Anxiety

This sculpture began as a simple sketch, something to keep my hands busy during the unexpected slowdown of the pandemic. Before long, it became clear that I wasn’t just sculpting a character, I was giving shape to something I was feeling.

Anxiety has a way of distorting everything. It twists perspective, magnifies uncertainty, and can make you feel like a stranger to yourself. During that time, I watched many friends, especially fellow artists, struggle with the sudden loss of routine, isolation, and the uncertainty of what came next. Like everyone else, I was trying to make sense of it all.

Art has always been one of the ways I process those moments. Instead of trying to explain the feeling, I wanted to translate it into form, creating something that captured the weight and tension without relying on words.

Looking back, this piece reminds me that difficult periods often leave a mark on the work we create. Sometimes they become the work itself.
