This piece was inspired by Guillermo del Toro’s vision of Frankenstein, where horror and poetry seem to exist side by side.
I imagined the creature’s second birth. After escaping the burning laboratory, he is carried through the sewers and washed onto a quiet shore. He wakes up alone, takes his first breath of fresh air, and experiences freedom for the first time. Painful, confusing, but beautiful nonetheless.
As the sculpture evolved, turning it into an écorché felt like the natural next step. It became both a character piece and an anatomy study, allowing me to explore what lies beneath the surface while staying true to the emotion of that imagined moment.
